Canoe Packbasket

I handweave my Canoe Packbaskets of premium reed.  Woven on a 17″ packbasket base, this pack is 13″ tall which lowers its center of gravity and helps to keep it upright in your canoe.  Available   in my three standard stains; golden oak, red oak and black walnut, it comes with forest green web straps that are styled like those of the full sized pack but are not used to transport the basket .  Because it is designed to be carried to the canoe fully loaded, I add extra stitching on the rim and   a sturdy bent oak handle.  Grab the handle and off you go.  Once in the canoe, secure the basket   to the thwart with the attached cinch strap and paddle off,  knowing that your gear is readily available and safely fastened.

Hi, this seems like a great design for collecting in the field too, can it come with shoulder straps?

      Hi Brian,

Yes, this basket can be fitted with the same shoulder strap set that I use on the 17″ pack. In fact, a group of mushroom hunters is using this size with the regular carrying straps for their collecting excursions. They felt that the extra 4″ of height in the 17″ pack was not necessary and have found that this size is perfect. The price for this basket with the shoulder straps remains the same ($65). The shoulder straps come in forest green, red or beige.

      Thanks for your interest.

      Mick
